Dear friends,
Although a little late, I am informing you that the South African Tenpin Bowling Association (TBASA) is since 1 January 2023 an Associate Member of EBF.
When there was no African Zone, TBASA was a member federation of EBF (then ETBF). Even though there is an African Zone, TBASA still wanted to be an associate member of EBF. In their opinion the competition in our Zone is much more competitive than in Africa.
South Africa is paying a normal membership fee to EBF, and they can participate in our championships and win medals.
However, they cannot qualify thru EBF championships for World Championships. Our hosts for the upcoming championships will be informed.

Dear Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that EBF has a new General Secretary.
Thanks to the former Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee and also former General Secretary of EBF Mrs. Natasa Pirc Musar, we are able to welcome Mrs. Martina JAKOBI from Germany.
Martina is also working at the office of the German Bowling Federation and is very aware of what is going on in our bowling world.
The Presidium of EBF is looking forward to a great cooperation and wishes Martina a great time in European Bowling.

The 53rd Brunswick Ballmaster Open 2023 was conducted in Helsinki, Finland during 6 – 15 January 2023. Total of 1081 Entries and re-entries were bowled during the week by 500 athletes, where of 72 were women.
After 3 steps of the final then it came down to top 4 playing TV finals as follows:
Semifinals:
Kim Bolleby, Sweden vs Nicola Pongolini, Italy. 204 vs 181
Santtu Tahvanainen, Finland vs Jesper Svensson, Sweden 218 vs 228
And then final:
Jesper Svensson, Sweden vs Kim Bolleby, Sweden 267 vs 212
This was the second time victory at Ballmaster Open for Jesper Svensson, he also won in 2013.
The highest woman became Sanna Oksanen, Finland,
Verity Crawley, England, climbed to the top of the Women Ranking and Kim Bolleby, Sweden is on top of the Men´s ranking. See here.
Now will be some pause on the EBT until May, were we will be in Langen Germany for the first version of Bowl for Fun Open and then week later in Kegel Aalborg Intl. Aalborg, Denmark.
As this was the second tournament on the EBT2023 this is also the status of the ranking
The AIK International Tournament 2023 was conducted in Stockholm, Sweden during 26 December 2022 – 8 January 2023. Total of 803 Entries and re-entries were bowled during the week by 324 athletes, where of 62 were women.
After 3 steps of the final then it came down to top 3 playing stepladder to win, and results as follows:
Results:
Anna Andersson, Sweden 254 3rd place
Mattias Wetterberg, Sweden 259
And then:
Mattias Wetterberg, Sweden 208 2nd place
Kim Bolleby, Sweden 279 WINNER
The highest woman became Anna Anderssen, Sweden,
As this was the first tournament on the EBT2023 then this is also the status of the ranking
Dear bowling friends,
The year 2022 is coming to an end.
It is a good custom if we wish each other a wonderful Christmas time and a good start in the New Year 2023. It is my privilege to wish you on behalf my presidium all the above.
I take this opportunity also to thank Dr. Natasa Pirc Musar for all her help, advise and friendship during her time as General Secretary of EBF and Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee.
She now must fulfil the big task being the President of the Republic of Slovenia. We all wish her the best.
I also wish that the leadership of IBF (including myself) finds a way out of the
deadlock we seem to have landed.
As of the 1st of January 2023, Martina Jakobi from Germany will be the new General Secretary of EBF. We also wish her the very best.
Me and my Presidium look forward to a fruitful 2023 and with the help of all our member federations and individual members we will be able to improve our BOWLING SPORT.

The FM Mattsson Christmas Tournament 2022 was conducted in Mora, Sweden during 10 – 18 December 2022. Total of 338 Entries and re-entries were bowled during the week by 147 athletes, where of 17 were women.
After 3 steps of the final then it came down to top 4 playing 1 game and lowest drop out etc.. Results:
Carl Eklund, Sweden 247 216 258
Kevin Lindbadh, Sweden 224 214 eliminated
Robin Noberg, Sweden 212 247 222 eliminated
Jesper Svensson, Sweden 192 Eliminated
This was the second EBT Title for this talented young athlete.
The highest woman became Peppe Kosteri, Finland, for the first time in her carrier.
The EBT Ranking was also concluded this time as this was the last tournament in the EBT Tour, and winners of the EBT Tour 2022 were in Anna Andersson and Tomas Käyhkö
The final of the Tour – The EBT Masters 2023 will be held in San Marino during the EBT 2023 stop there, on 12.07.2023

It is with great honour and pride, that I inform you about the fact that
our Secretary General Natasa Pirc Musar was elected last Sunday 13 November 2022 as President of the Republic of Slovenia.
I am sure that I congratulate her on behalf of all members of the European Bowling Federation.
Sad thing is, that she needs to resign from being our Secretary General.

The Brunswick Open 2022 was conducted in Wittelsheim, France during 27 September -2 October 2022. Total of 483 Entries and re-entries by 192 athletes, where of 29 were women, bowled during the week.
After 3 steps of the final then it came down to top 8 playing lowest vs highest seeded, the 4 remaining were:
Maxime Dubois, France,
Dominic Barrett, England
Jesse Kallio, Finland
Tomas Kayhko, Finland.
In the next step both the Fins droped out, and that come to final as follows:
Dominic Barrett, England 238 + 256 = 494 vs Maxime Dubois France 189 + 238 = 427
The highest woman became Janin Ribguth, Germany.
There were change of the leader in the tour Mens ranking where Tomas Kayhko edged in front of Kim Bolleby

- Correction in the men’s ranking as the administrator had the wrong info, and this affected ranking points for both Tomas Kayhko and Kim Bolleby amongst others. The administrator is apologizing to all those affected.
