The ETBF Presidium has decided to award the hosting of the European Senior Championships 2020 to the Austrian Bowling Federation.
The championships will be held in the well-known Plus Bowling Centre in Vienna from 24 January to 2 February 2020.
The European Senior Championships is a new championship for 50+ bowlers established at ETBF’s Congress in 2017, also held in Vienna. The 2020 issue of the championships is indeed the first edition of the championships.
The format of the championships is identical with the format of the European Youth Championships, namely 4 male and 4 female athletes participating in Singles, Doubles, Team of Four, All Event and Masters, in total 10 titles.
Georg Skryten from Norway in Boys Singles and Robert Lindberg and Alfred Berggren from Sweden in Boys Doubles stood for the total European title harvest at the World Youth Championships 2018, which were concluded on 3 August in Detroit, USA.
In the final of the Boys singles, Georg Skryten defeated Ukraine’s Danylo Yatsko 181-176.
In the final of the Boys Doubles, Robert Lindberg and Alfred Berggren defeated Jayde Panella and Blayne Fletcher from Australia 479-383.
The WYC 2018 attracted 82 girls and 132 boys from all over the World.

Jesper Agerbo from Denmark won his first tour stop ever, when he defeated his fellow countryman Thomas Larsen in the final of the Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger.
Thomas Larsen has had a fantastic summer series in the EBT after a win in Madrid, a 4th position in San Marino and a runner up position in Munich.
Maxime de Rooij from The Netherlands became the highest ranked women for the first time in her career, from a position 8 in the tournament.
The tournament, which was conducted in Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring, as the 8th stop in the European Bowling Tour 2018, had attracted 188 athletes, who competed for the 48 spots in the final steps played on 22 July.
40 athletes played 4 games from scratch in step 1, from where top 20 was combined with athletes positioned 5-8 in the qualification for another 4 games starting from scratch in step 2.
Top 12 from step 2 continued together with top 4 from the qualification in step 3, where 4 more games was played starting from scratch, followed by step 4, where top 8 from step 3 played 4 games with the 4 games pin fall from step 3 carried forward.
In step 5, the 4 best after the 8 games in step 3+4, added another game to a 9 gams total, which determined the two athletes playing the last game of the tournament in step 6, deciding the winner and the runner up over a total of 10 games played in step 3-6.

Pontus Andersson from Sweden won in San Marino after a very tight three games final 718 vs. 716 against Kamron Doyle from USA, who attended a stop in the European Bowling Tour for only the second time so far.
The Storm San Marino Open, which was the 14th consecutive issue of this great tournament conducted annually in July as one of the repeating stops of the European Bowling Tour, was as always held in Rose’n Bowl.
48 players were qualified to the final steps of the tournament, which consisted of 3 steps including 32, 24 and 18 players, until the tournament was concluded by a 4 person’s elimination final. In the final, the lowest scoring player was eliminated after each game and the pin fall for remaining players carried forward to the next game.

Pontus Andersson won his second tour title and became the highest ranked man for the third time in his career.
Mai Ginge Jensen from Denmark, became the highest ranked women for the 9th time in her career from a position 9 in the tournament.

The ETBF Presidium have decided to introduce a slight change of the EBT Masters format, where after it will include 8 games qualification for the 8 qualified athletes of each gender. Top 4 after the 8 games will finish the EBT Masters by adding another 4 games to a total of 12 games, to decide the male and the female tour masters of the foregoing year.
The purpose of the changed format, which will be possible to conduct with a few hours less playing time than before, is to be able to conduct the EBT Masters at a day during a tour stop instead of on the Monday after a tour stop.
The organizer of the VII Brunswick Madrid Challenge in Bowling Chamartin; to where the hosting of the EBT Masters 2019 has been awarded since last year, have accepted to move the conduction of the masters into the Thursday of the tournament.
The EBT Masters 2019 will be conducted in Madrid on Thursday 4 July 2019 from 10.00 to 16.00, followed by two tournament squads on 17.00 and 21.00 the same day.
The ETBF Presidium is additionally pleased to be able to announce that Rose’n Bowl in San Marino will host the EBT Masters 2020 in conjunction with the 16th Storm San Marino Open.
The EBT Masters 2020 will be conducted in San Marino on Tuesday 7 July 2020 from 09.00 to 15.00, followed by two tournament squads on 16.00 and 20.00 the same day.
The EBT Masters 2019 and 2020 are the finals of the European Bowling Tour 2018 and the European Bowling Tour 2019 respectively.
The VI Brunswick Madrid Challenge was conducted on 1-8 July 2018 in Bowling Chamartin in Madrid.
The tournament, which as always was well managed by Paco Rodriguez, appeared in the European Bowling Tour 2018 as Stop 6.
The format of the tournament offered 48 athletes in the final steps, of which athletes positioned 1-16 was qualified directly for the Final Step 2, while the 32 other qualified athletes all bowled 6 games in Step 1, starting from scratch.
Top 16 from Step 1 was then joined by the highest seeded 16 athletes for matches in the rest of the steps, always with the highest seeded matched with the lowest seeded etc.
Step 2, 3 and 4 included 16, 8 and 4 matches, all bowled best of three games, while the Semi Finals and he Final in Step 5 and 6 was bowled as one game matches.

After a fantastic day for Thomas Larsen, he won the all Danish affair in Bowling Chamartin, which became his 5th EBT Title and his 6th highest ranked position in the men’s division.
Maria Jose Rodriguez from Colombia became the highest ranked women for the first time in her career, after a very successful road the whole way to one of the Semi Finals.
Jenny Wegner from Sweden is leading the women’s division of the tour with 494 points in front of Ghislaine Sigter van der Tol from The Netherlands at position 2 with 440 points and Cherie Tan from Singapore is at position 3 with 335 points.
The women’s ranking became a more open affair, since Ghislaine Sigter van der Tol took 70 points by being third among the women in Madrid, while Jenny Wegner did not bowl in Madrid.
The top of the men’s division of the tour is unchanged Anthony Simonsen from USA with 469 points in front of Jesper Svensson from Sweden with 390 points and Rafiq Ismail from Malaysia with 370 points.

The first part of the European Women Championships 2018 was completely dominated by a very well plying Swedish Team.
In the Singles event, the final became an overall Swedish affair, where Cajsa Wegner took the gold medal after a 242-194 win over her countrywomen Ida Andersson.
Also the final of the Doubles event became an overall Swedish affair, in which Nina Flack and Isabelle Hultin defeated Victoria Johansson and Cajsa Wegner 390–387.
In the Trios event Sweden, represented by Isabelle Hultin, Ida Andersson and Nina Flack, defeated Finland, represented by Sanna Pasanen, Eliisa Hiltunen and Reija Lundén, 638-629.
Finally Sweden continued their Gold rush into the Team event, where Victoria Johansson, Ida Andersson, Nina Flack, Isabelle Hultin, Jenny Wegner and Cajsa Wegner defeated Ani Juntunen, Eliisa Hiltunen, Petra Eriksson-Sola, Reija Lundén, Vilma Salo and Sanna Pasanen from Finland 1125-905.
The rest of the championships were dedicated to Denmark’s Mai Ginge Jensen, who first won All Event Gold with a nearly hundred pins gap to her nearest opponent, Nina Flack.
Later Mai Ginge Jensen won her 4 matches in the Masters event, where Finland’s Eliisa Hiltonen was defeated 2-1 (224-214, 198-237 and 256.191) in the final and decisive match.
Sweden became the best nation with 4 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals, while Denmark became the second best nation with 2 Gold medals.
The EWC 2018 was the 25rd European Championships conducted since 1962 and the 7th European Championships conducted only for women since 2006.
The championships, which were held in Bowling Stones Wemmel, a suburb to Belgians capital Brussels, attracted 132 female athletes from 25 European member federations.

It has been found that a trade fare in Munich is overlapping the first days of the original conduction period of the European Men Championships 2019.
Since the consequence of this would be both availability issues for hotel rooms and very high room rates, the German Bowling Federation and the ETBF Presidium have agreed upon a slight displacement of the conduction period.
The original conduction period was 5 June (last day of arrival) to 16 June (first day of departure). The new period will be 10 June (last day of arrival) to 21 June (first day of departure).
The changed period also influences the ETBF Congress, which will be held on 9 June 2019 instead of 4 June 2019, as originally published.
As a consequence of a sponsorship agreement, Stop 11 of the European Bowling Tour 2018 is changed from Rome Open to Rome Open All4bowling.
The tournament will unchanged be conducted on 8-16 September 2018 in Bowling Brunswick, situated in Italy’s Capital, Rome.

The program of the European Bowling Tour 2019 has been decided by the ETBF Presidium.
The EBT 2019 is the 20th consecutive tour since the first European Bowling Tour in 2000.
The 15 tournaments adopted in the tour are divided in 5 different categories as follows: 2 EBT Platinum, 2 EBT Gold, 3 EBT Silver, 4 EBT Bronze and 4 EBT Satellite tournaments.
The total prize fund in the EBT 2019 is 706.000 €; giving an average prize fund of 47.000 €.
It is a pleasure for ETBF to welcome two new tournaments in the tour, namely the Brunswick Dimitris Karetsos Tournament, which will be conducted in Thessaloniki, Greece in September and the 3rd Brunswick Open, which will be conducted in Wittelsheim, France in October.
It is also noticed that Kegel Aalborg International is back in the tour after one year’s absence in 2018. The tournament was previously conducted in May, but as of 2019 in November.
In addition to these three tournaments, all 12 tournaments included in the EBT 2018 are included in the EBT 2019 as well.
The highest ranked woman and the highest ranked man by the conclusion of the EBT 2019 will be awarded 1.000 € each.
The 8 highest ranked women and the 8 highest ranked men after the 15 stops are qualified for the 13th EBT Masters in 2020. The host centre of the EBT Masters 2020 will be published later.
